At the SVPA
Volunteering alongside dogs at the Société vaudoise pour la protection des animaux.
The trust developed there over time has given me considerable freedom to create space around individual dogs, including dogs arriving without known histories, dogs adjusting to shelter life, highly dynamic dogs and dogs whose individual needs may not immediately be apparent.
Each encounter begins again with the dog who is there.
They choose proximity. They choose distance. They explore. They rest. They communicate.
And the space can respond.
The dog brings the information. REMIDI makes room for it.

The human behind REMIDI
My name is Melissa. My role is to make room for the dog.
My work is informed by academic study, specialist education and years spent alongside individual dogs in homes, shelters and other environments.
I hold an MSc in Canine–Human Life Sciences and have continued specialist study across canine aggression, sensory enriched environments, canine communication and calming signals, and animal-led Reiki.
These studies give access to knowledge, frameworks and questions.
The individual dog remains the source of information in front of me.
Getting started
Everything begins with a first meeting: a conversation and an observation, on site, to understand your dog's situation and your own.
